Josh Holden
Josh was born with sand between his feet and salt air in his lungs. As a kid, you could have found him riding his bike to old Jeff's Grocery for a few candy treats or merrily working the checkout counter at Beach Mart. (He was the strange kid standing on a milk crate so he could reach the register.)
Many years have past and after spending about five years in NYC, Josh has found a deeper respect for Holden Beach, and the serene quality of life it provides.
These days he's back in HB–-taking a break from the big city--splashing in the sea, helping with the family business, and working on any number of projects (including HoldenBeach.me.)
If you see him around town, say hello.
On Thursday, February 9th, beginning at 9:00 a.m., the house currently located at 813 Ocean Boulevard West will be moved off the island. You should allow extra time if you will be traveling during this period…

I never tire of the look of surprise on people’s faces when I remark that I was born & raised here. “Lucky!” they often reply, with their eyebrows arching into their hairline! This predictable response is often followed by, “What a great place to grow up!” As I watch their mind race over what it must have been like to spend your childhood at the beach…

Last week the two homes at 113 and 115 Starfish Drive burned, along with some boats and boat trailers on the adjacent lot at 117 Starfish Drive. As a follow up and review of this emergency I called for a meeting of the Town’s mayor, police chief, building inspector and the fire chief. Chief Doug Todd will be at the board meeting to give an overview of the fire and what was done. No one was injured. The fire chief is in charge of all such emergencies.
