Town News: Message from Chief Dixon 10/7/21

I would like to remind everyone again of the special event traffic expected this Saturday, October 9th. Coastal Race Productions’ Run Holden Beach combined half marathon/5k/1 mile will begin at 7:00 a.m.

With 1,000 plus runners expected to participate, all roads will be temporarily closed from High Point Street down to Jordan Boulevard, including the Holden Beach Bridge. Road closures will begin promptly at 6:50 a.m. and roads are not expected to reopen until approximately 7:30 a.m.

After the initial road closures, traffic flow will then be limited to one lane of travel throughout the remainder of the event. This one and only lane of travel will be guided by a pilot car, shuttling between High Point Street and Cedar Landing Road. If you must travel Saturday morning, please allow yourself plenty of extra time to reach your destination.

I ask that everyone please drive with extreme caution and do not be in a hurry as we work diligently to maintain the safety of participants and keep traffic flowing as efficiently as possible. I thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
