County News: Waste and Recycling Schedule Update for Holiday

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County government offices and libraries are closing Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Thursday, Dec. 26 to observe the Christmas holiday and Wednesday, Jan. 1 to observe New Year’s Day.

To allow time for our team members to spend the holidays with their families, Brunswick County’s Solid Waste and Recycling division is operating under adjusted schedules that differ from most observed holiday collection schedules. Full details are listed below.

Trash/Recycling Cart Curbside Collection


  • Customers with a Wednesday collection day will not have collection Wednesday, Dec. 25. Place your carts at the curb Saturday, Dec. 28 by 6 a.m. for pick up.
  • Customers with a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday curbside collection day will have normal collection service as usual. Place carts at the curb by 6 a.m. to ensure pick up.

New Year’s

  • All customers will have regular trash and recycling collection—including Wednesday customers on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Brunswick County Landfill (172 Landfill Road NE, Bolivia)


  • Closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Thursday, Dec. 26
  • Reopens with regular schedule Friday, Dec. 27

New Year’s

  • Closed Wednesday, Jan. 1
  • Reopens with regular schedule Thursday, Jan. 2

Convenience Centers (Various Locations)


  • Closed Wednesday, Dec. 25
  • Reopen with regular schedules Friday, Dec. 27

New Year’s

  • Reopen with regular schedules Friday, Jan. 3
